“Little Viking Girl” began as a personal book project, but I struggled to find a unique hook that felt both fresh and manageable in scope. The character was inspired by my daughter and her boundless energy, so while the story itself never fully took shape, I developed the concept art and now use it as a character design lesson in the classes I teach.
I didn't have a style in mind, so I just started sketching a character based on real world viking attire. I soon wanted to simplify everything and took a bold turn into simple shapes and gestures, which lead to the final design.
